You may have seen our two vans busy on the streets on the Marina Alta delivering food and support to those in need. But what happens behind the scenes.

It takes a lot of work by a number of key supporters to make this happen.

Over the next few weeks, we would like to introduce you to the dedicated individuals who make our mission possible.

We begin with our founder and main stay Arne Soeten. A former addict and alcoholic with a criminal background. He is now 11 years sober. The Project is his way of giving back to society for his past wrong doings.

Project 4 All in Spain started officially on the 4th February 2021 as Project Costa and for Arne it is a 7/24 commitment.

What does he do? It would be easier to say what he doesn’t do.

In a typical day he could be cooking. He is an excellent cook and believes that every meal should be one that he would enjoy eating himself. He is also a voracious tester of the meals prepared.

He could also be driving, delivering meals to those in need on the streets. Listening to their stories, providing a much-needed human connection and showing up for someone who feels forgotten.

Another of Arne’s key activities is house clearing and running the weekly rastros. These activities provide an income and contribute to the running costs of the project.

All of the above take up the majority of his day, and in the evening, he can often be found at Crickets Corner — Arne’s oasis of calm. Here, he reflects on the achievements of the day and, just as importantly, considers what still needs to be done.

That might mean helping someone from the street with their paperwork, offering advice and guidance to a person struggling with addiction, or raising much-needed funds for the Project.

Just as vital, he makes time for his own sobriety. Arne recognises the importance of staying present-focused, taking his recovery one day at a time. He attends AA meetings as often as possible and remains committed to its 12-step program.

Arne knows firsthand the power of transformation. His own journey from temptation to hope inspired him to create Project 4 All, a community dedicated to giving others a second chance.
