Forging Powerful Alliances: Collaboration Between Charity and Business

In today’s interconnected world, collaboration between charity organizations and businesses is proving to be a powerful mechanism for driving social change. We were approached by Pleo, a SaaS expense management company based in Denmark to work with their global data team to share what we were doing to help the homeless and those in need on the Costa Blanca. This approach was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program where they combine off-site team building exercises with the opportunity to engage with local charitable activities.

The PLEO Experience

Last month, we had the fantastic opportunity to host the Pleo Data Team here in sunny Spain. They swapped their usual SQL queries for a half-day volunteering session with Project4All. It was more than just offsite; it was a chance for their team to apply their tech and business skills to directly support our efforts in tackling homelessness and hunger across the Costa Blanca.

Our time together began with an eye-opening and grounding session. Arne shared his personal journey and the inspiration behind establishing Project4All. Following that, he and Zoe outlined the vital work we do right here on the Costs Blanca – from our cooking and food distribution programmes to providing essential shelter for those in need. We also delved into the complexities of homelessness in Costa Blanca and Spain, offering the Pleo team crucial context for the challenges we face daily. 

Volunteers echoed that sentiment: “Arnie leads a passionate crew doing essential work. We were genuinely moved by their mission and eager to pitch in.”

Putting Data Expertise to Good Use

Then, it was down to business! Their 30 data professionals really got their thinking caps on. They helped us brainstorm solutions to some of our biggest questions: how to streamline our operations, introduce more technology, secure more sustainable funding, tell our powerful story more effectively, and unlock bigger grant opportunities. They came up with some incredibly practical, low-cost ideas that we believe will genuinely boost our efficiency, strengthen our community ties, and help us keep doing the good work we're so committed to.

This collaboration wasn't just about the valuable insights they provided us; it was a fantastic experience for the Pleo team too. Their employees, or "Pleo'ers" as they call themselves, had the chance to:
