Sometimes, all it takes is one message to change a life.

Recently, Help of Marina Alta became aware of the plight of an 82-year-old gentleman who was facing the terrifying prospect of homelessness. Recognising the urgency of the situation, they immediately contacted Project 4 All to seek additional support and explore possible solutions.

From that moment, the two charities worked together with a shared goal: to ensure that this vulnerable man would not be left without a safe place to live.

Together, we turned to social media.

An appeal was shared through community networks and local groups, reaching thousands of people across the Marina Alta region. The response was immediate and heartening. Messages of support arrived, offers of assistance were made, and people who had never met the gentleman stepped forward because they simply wanted to help.

Thanks to the quick action of Help of Marina Alta, the support and coordination provided by Project 4 All, and the kindness of the wider community, suitable accommodation was identified before the situation became a crisis. What had seemed an impossible and frightening prospect only days earlier became a story of hope, dignity and compassion.

The collaboration didn’t end there. Volunteers from both Help of Marina Alta and Project 4 All worked side by side to help the gentleman move into his new home. Together, they ensured he had the essentials needed to start this new chapter, including providing a new bed and mattress, along with other essential household items to help him settle in with comfort and dignity.

This experience highlights the importance of collaboration between charities. No single organisation can meet every need on its own, but by sharing information, resources and networks, we can achieve far more together than we ever could separately.

It also demonstrates the positive power of social media. When used with purpose, it can connect communities, mobilise support and help protect the most vulnerable members of society.

Project 4 All would like to express its sincere thanks to Help of Marina Alta for recognising the situation and acting so quickly, and to everyone who shared the appeal or offered assistance. Your actions made a real difference.

This story is a reminder that homelessness is not just an individual’s problem—it is a community responsibility. And when communities come together with compassion and determination, lives can be changed.

Together, we don’t just provide help. We provide hope.
